Meet Karen

A professional writer who creates engaging, original content that helps you connect with your audience.

Karen RiderI’m Karen Rider and I’ve been writing media-savvy content for businesses and publications since 2007.  Many of my clients‘ businesses and publications have a focus on health and wellness, integrative medicine, parenting, education, and publishing industry trends. That being said, I never shy away from a challenge and that mindset has brought me assignments in marketing technology, construction health and safety, artisan teas, and even cookbook writing! I love that writing allows me to delve into new subjects and connect with so many interesting people.

I invite you to peruse my portfolio to see first-hand the the types of content I’ve written (or ghostwritten) for my clients. To learn more about what it’s like to work with me, visit the writing services page.  Some of the recent projects I’m over-the-top happy about include developmental editing  for The Blood Type Cookbook: Easy, Healthy and Delicious Recipes for the Whole Family; serving as contributing editor for Book Marketing Magazine; and content marketing for naturopathic doctors and their patients through the Medicine Talk Pro newsletter service.

Before I ventured full-time into freelance writing, I had a career in the health and fitness industry, college health promotion program management, and I taught undergraduate health science and psychology courses. See more of my professional work experience on LinkedIn.

Fun Facts About Me

Since writing flexes only the muscle beneath my cranium, I challenge my body daily and that can be on the yoga mat, in the gym, or trekking the byways near my home on the Florida Gulf Coast by boot (er, flip-flop!), bike or kayak. Organic tea, iced or hot, is my elixir of choice. I am blessed to share life’s adventures with my spouse and two spirited daughters.
